Built on Stilts and Union Chapel are inseparable. We are endlessly grateful for such a beautiful venue in which to house our festival. This unique, magical space allows for our diverse community to come together and celebrate the dancer within all of us. -- Abby Bender, co-founder & director.

The Old Whaling Church, Edgartown

One of the Island’s most recognized landmarks, the acoustically brilliant Old Whaling Church in the heart of Edgartown, has hosted performances by nationally known artists including Andre Previn, Kate Taylor, Livingston Taylor, Tom Rush and Dar Williams; and speakers including Howard Zin and Spike Lee. Centrally located on Main Street, the Old Whaling Church is Edgartown’s premier meeting place. It has a seating capacity of 500 and is equipped with theatrical lights and a sound system. The stage is furnished with a Steinway Concert “C” grand piano and a newly restored historic Fisher Simmons pipe organ. The Whaling Church is ideal for folk and jazz concerts, gospel choir and concert pianist performances and speakers or panel discussions. It is also a unique venue for corporate annual meetings. The lower level Baylies Room is perfect for post-performance receptions, smaller meetings or breakout space.

The Grange Hall and Upstairs Theater, West Tisbury

Our up-island facility is conveniently located, provides ample parking, and is easily accessible by public transportation. It offers a commercially equipped kitchen which allows your caterer to service your event with ease. The Main Hall at the Grange accommodates up to 150 guests for a seated event. The fun, casual atmosphere and rustic charm make The Grange Hall a natural for clambakes and theme dinners.

With performances dating back to 1859, the Upstairs Theater at the Grange is the Island’s oldest Performing Arts Center. An intimate space, the room seats 125 and is equipped with a stage, piano, theatrical lighting, sound system and projection screen. The Upstairs Theater hosts jazz concerts, comedy shows, cabarets and talent shows, as well as film screenings and corporate annual meetings. It is equipped with its own small kitchen to allow for the service of refreshments.

The Union Chapel, Oak Bluffs

Located at the top of busy Circuit Avenue in Oak Bluffs, the Union Chapel's unique octagonal shape and freestanding seats make it an extremely versatile Performing Arts Venue. Popular for dance performances, it can provide a Theater-In-The-Round configuration or the more traditional theater-style seating. The Chapel is highly desirable for musical performances, with wonderful acoustics and a concert grand piano, formerly on the stage at Radio City Music Hall.
