You’ll revel in one last sweet get-together on your wedding weekend when you gather your family and friends in the shady elegance of the Dr. Fisher House. A pleasant respite before departing the Island, your guests will wander the grounds, enjoying the gardens while re-living the joy and excitement of your nuptials. A post-wedding brunch at this meticulously maintained 19th century mansion is a 21st century way to thank your guests for coming to Martha’s Vineyard Island to share in this momentous occasion.
Centrally located in the charming village of Edgartown, the Old Whaling Church is a pleasant stroll from many delightful B&B’s, inns and hotels. That makes it so easy to invite your wedding guests to get together in the comfortable Baylies Room for a “Thank You for Coming/Bon-Voyage” brunch. They can stop by for coffee, juice and a bite to eat before getting back to the mainland and reality. Your magical weekend has to end, but this is a pleasant way to ease your way home.
Built in 1859 at the crossroads of the Island, the Grange Hall is a perfect gathering place for your post-wedding brunch. Whether you’re planning for a crowd or a more intimate group, we can accommodate your guests in the Main Hall or the Upstairs Theater for one last social event on your wedding weekend. Please note that availability is extremely limited for Sunday events, usually the day for this type of event. Spring and autumn are best due to other events already scheduled on Sundays for the summer season.
Show your attendants how much they mean to you by treating them to a private luncheon on your wedding day in the sophisticated surroundings of the beautiful Dr. Daniel Fisher House. Especially convenient for Old Whaling Church brides, you may even consider using the historic mansion as a place to dress and have your wedding party’s hair and make-up done. Think of the convenience of having your preparations being completed steps away from the center aisle of the most magnificent church on the Island. No wrinkled dresses or lost bridesmaids!
Destination weddings often incorporate a Welcome Cocktail Reception into the celebration as a way to greet your guests on their arrival to the Island. The Dr. Fisher House is and ideal location for such an event. Edgartown is a beautifully “walk-able” town. Strolling distance from many B&B’s, inns and hotels, your guests will find the Dr. Fisher House very convenient to their accommodations. Your Welcome Reception is the perfect place to give your guests “Welcome” bags with Island-themed gifts, maps, recommendations and itineraries. The event becomes an orientation, of sorts, for your wedding weekend with this timeless mansion as your wedding headquarters.
